1. How do I start a 1:1 Direct Message?
From the Hind Social App:
Open the app and tap the Chat icon in the header.
Use the Search bar to find a user.
Tap “+” → Start New Chat → Search for the user.
From a User’s Profile:
Open a user’s profile and tap "Message".
Or, message them directly from their short profile view which can be opened from different places throughout the platform like the user's posts header.
2. How can I create and manage a Group Chat?
Tap “+” → New Group Chat.
Select members to add.
Set up Group Image, Name, description and the group's visibility.
Group Visibility & Permissions:
The visibility of the group depends on the role of the user who is creating the group and the depending on that , the user will get the group visibility options.
Admins can enable/disable member messaging.
All members are notified when added.
Admin Controls:
Edit group details from the group info page or from the " Edit group" option.
Add/Remove members from the the group info page or from the " Add new members" option.
Promote members to Group Admins from the group member's list in the group info page.
Remove group members from the group info page
Control messaging permissions.
3. What messaging features are available?
You can send:
Text messages
Voice notes
Media: up to 20 images, 20 videos (max 2 min each), files/PDFs up to 100 MB
Content from posts, groups, library, and events
Reactions & Replies:
Long press on the message to get options like Reactions using emojis, reply, forward.
Tap emoji as a reaction.
View reactions on a message by tapping on the emojis on a message
Remove you reaction from the message by viewing the list of reactions on the message and then tapping on your user icon from the list.
Delete Messages:
Delete sent messages by long pressing the message and then selecting the " Delete for me" or " Delete for everyone " options.
4. How do I manage notifications ?
Mute Notifications: Go to Group Info → Mute Notifications.
5. How do I find people and start chats?
Search Near Me Users: Allow location permission.
Search Admins & Ambassadors: Connect directly with them.
Search Existing Chats/Groups: Quickly rejoin conversations.
Search All Members: Explore from the chat's search screen.
6. What are Announcement Groups?
Each entity has a default announcement group:
Philosophy Announcement Group: Only philosophy admins can send message.
Community Announcement Group: Only community admins can send message.
Organization Announcement Group: Only sub-community admins can send message.
📢 These are one-way groups for important updates. You’re automatically added when you join the community or any sub-community.
7. How does Open Graph work in Chat?
Paste any external link → A preview (title, description, image) loads.
Tap the preview → Opens in the in-app browser.
Troubleshooting
Message not sending? Check your internet and app version.
Can’t upload a file? Ensure it’s under 100 MB and in a supported format.
